AA or AI, at a school with this profile: An IGCSE background makes AA the default rather than the safe choice, and most students here can handle it. The honest exception is the student heading toward a data-, design- or business-oriented degree who is choosing AA for its reputation rather than its content — AI HL taken seriously is a better outcome than AA SL taken defensively.
Protecting a high trajectory: Families at a school with strong published results are usually not buying a rescue. They are protecting a 40+ trajectory, where the marginal grade point comes from exam technique and IA quality rather than from more content. That is a different kind of tutoring and it is planned differently.

Where we usually start

A first month that targets justification: We start by taking a recent HL topic the student has already been taught and asking them to argue it, not reproduce it. That exposes very quickly whether the difficulty is the content or the expectation. From there the work is usually proof structure and the language of a complete argument — the two things IGCSE never had to ask for.
Planning the IA before it is urgent: At a school where families are protecting a high overall score, the Internal Assessment is the most controllable 20% available, and it is routinely left too late. Getting a research question settled early — one that is narrow, measurable and mathematically deep enough for the level — is worth more than months of extra content revision.

Can lessons be in Italian?

Yes. I am fluent in English, Italian and Croatian, and a lesson can run in any of the three or move between them. For students examined in English but more comfortable reasoning in Italian, that flexibility is usually the fastest route to understanding.

My child is already getting a 6 — is tutoring worth it?

Often yes, but for a different reason than a struggling student. Moving 6 to 7 is rarely about content: it is about the last few marks in extended-response questions, the quality of the Internal Assessment, and not losing method marks under time pressure. That work is precise and finite, and it is usually a shorter engagement than families expect.
